Evan Balkan
Evan Balkan is the author of three novels, including the PEN/Faulkner nominated Independence, and seven books of nonfiction, including The Wrath of God: Lope de Aguirre, Revolutionary of the Americas, as well as many essays and short stories in an array of publications. His screenplays have won multiple fellowships and awards. Balkan is also a co-writer for the film Wayward Girls. He teaches writing at the Community College of Baltimore County, where he founded the Compass Press, the only university-style press housed at a community college in the United States.
